About J. Harris

Known as Mr. Bass, has earned the reputation as one of the premier bass singers in and around the city of New Orleans. He began honing his talent while attending Walter L. Cohen High School. He and a group of friends formed the local group Tavasco and went on to open for such acts as; The Four Tops, BB King, The Commodores, Frankie Beverly and Maze and many others. After Tavasco disbanded, he sang with the group Three Smooth and later with ReaLove (Real Love).

While with ReaLove, he performed for standing room only crowds at Bally's Casino, The Treasure Chest Casino, The Governor's Mansion and even a politicial function for then Vice-President Al Gore. The smooth bass voice of J Harris can also be heard on ReaLove's CDs "Trippin" and "Love You Can Feel".

After years of doing the group thing, J Harris has hooked up with producer/writer Montel Jones, of Kansas City, Missouri to do his first solo project entitled "Gotta Be Me". With his deep melodic bass voice reminiscent of that of Will Downing, and a jazzy R&B flavor, I think you'll all agree when he say's "Gotta Be Me".
